Fees and Policies

Financial Information

My fees are consistent with other therapy practices in the area. I am an in-network provider for BCBS, Aetna, CBHA and some EAP plans.

If I am an in-network provider for your insurance I will file your claims directly with your insurance.  You are still responsible for your copay, deductible or co-insurance, depending on your plan.  Please contact your insurance to verify your benefits before your appointment, and be sure to bring your insurance card and ID with you to your first appointment.

I do not accept insurance for couples therapy.  Most plans do not offer benefits for couples work, and in order to remain truly focused on the needs of the couple, I maintain the couple as the client rather than choosing one partner to be the identified patient.  You are responsible for the full fee for service and will be provided with a superbill or receipt upon request.  You can use this to file for any reimbursement provided by your insurance plan.

Some clients chose to not use insurance to pay for their sessions.  There are many reasons why, and I am happy to discuss those with you if you like.  I am able to work with clients who prefer self pay or to use their out-of-network benefits. If I am an out-of-network provider you are responsible for the full fee of the session at the time of your appointment, and will be provided with a receipt and superbill to use to file directly with your insurance company.

Included in your new client packet, you will receive a request for credit card information.  This credit card information is encrypted and kept with my processing bank.  You can choose a different form of payment at the time of your session, but I ask to keep this information on file.  This allows us to spend our session focused on your goals and needs and not managing payment.

Payment is due at the time of your appointment.  Payments can be made with your card on file, including FSA or HSA cards, or by cash or check.

What to expect

Our first session together is often called an intake or assessment session.  This session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other, and to make sure that we are a comfortable fit in working together.  This is also a time for you to share your concerns, goals and what you would like to work on, or with what you would like assistance. Sometimes this “getting to know you” phase can take a few sessions.  It takes time to build comfort and trust in any relationship, and I will work to make sure that you feel heard, validated, and supported as you share and open up to the therapeutic process.  During the assessment phase I will gain a better understanding of your strengths and needs, help you to set realistic goals, and we will develop a plan to work toward accomplishing those goals.

Paperwork

You will be sent a new client packet electronically when you schedule your first session.  This packet will include all practice policies, consent forms, and intake forms.  Please contact me with any questions.

Confidentiality

The work with a client and her/his therapist is completely confidential.  You must provide written consent for me to consult or discuss your care with anyone, including family members.  The only exception is if there is a concern for safety.  Please see the Services Agreement for additional information.

Cancellation Policy

When you schedule an appointment I reserve that time to focus exclusively on you and your needs.  If you are unable to keep a scheduled appointment I ask that you provide 48-hours notice.  Without appropriate notice of cancellation, you are responsible for the full fee for the appointment, regardless of attendance.

Making your first appointment can be a big step.  It's a big step that can put you on the path of healing, and help you to feel more in control of your life.

I look forward to speaking with you.
